Laser Therapy

What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation therapy, treats a wide variety of painful conditions including arthritis, soft tissue injuries, back pain, hot spots, wounds, ear infections, and severe oral inflammation known as stomatitis, among others. It is a safe and excellent complement to traditional pain medications and antibiotic therapies!

We are able to either treat your pet for you or teach you how to use our very simple portable units which you may then rent from us and treat your pet daily at home until they are healed. Our laser therapy units emit energy that is safer to be exposed to than a simple laser pointer but the energy is super-pulsed and dosed with multiple staggered frequencies of light energy in a way to penetrate deeper tissues without causing any negative effects. Pets tend to actually enjoy their treatments while their painful injuries heal more rapidly than with traditional methods alone.

So...How Does Laser TherapyWork?

See the Results for Yourself!

Willa's mother was at her wits end when treating Willa's "happy tail" injury. For anyone who has had experience with a wound like this, they can be incredibly frustrating to treat and often fail more traditional medications and bandaging. If the treatment fails surgical amputation of the tail is required to allow for complete healing. What's even m ore frustrating is that the injury occurs merely because the dog is so "HAPPY" and bangs its tail against hard surfaces when wagging it making it almost impossible to prevent.

Willa's tail had been treated with traditional bandaging and medications for 6 weeks and unfortunately it was looking as if her tail would need to be amputated. Her mother turned to us at Happy @ Home Mobile Veterinary Care to see if we could help. Thankfully for Willa we were able to start laser therapy right away. Within 10 days her tail was healed and just a few days later almost all her her hair had grown back.

Seeing is believing! For those of you who would like to see please have your cursor hover over the orange box to reveal Willa's progress. Keep in mind these photos are of wounds so if you wish not to see please scroll on.

It's really quite simple! Our portable units administer a localized dose of light energy directly to the target tissues causing reduction in inflammation. When inflammation is reduced so is pain and tissues heal much faster.

Laser therapy can be used as a sole treatment method or it may be combined with additional therapies such as oral anti-inflammatory pain medications, systemic antibiotics, and/or topical antibiotic therapy. It is one more way that Happy @ Home Mobile Veterinary Care takes an integrative approach to your pets health!
